PLEASE JOIN US for a Work-in-progress documentary film screening I of the Water The Unwritten Life of Sia Figiel.
Local documentary film production company Making Waves Films LLC invites you to a special work-in-progress screening of its latest film in production, I of the Water: The Unwritten Life of Sia Figiel, a feature documentary that follows acclaimed Samoan writer Sia Figiel’s journey toward healing.
Moderated by Hawaiian Studies Instructor & Humanities scholar Noe Tupou, the event will feature work-in-progress clips from the film, a discussion with the film’s director Kimberlee Bassford and humanities scholars, and a Q&A.
This is an exclusive opportunity that offers the public and members of the WCC community an insider’s look at the creative process and the role of the humanities in crafting a film, while also providing the filmmaking team with critical feedback that will improve the film. The event is free and open to the public and is sponsored in part by the Hawai‘i Council for the Humanities and the National Endowment for the Humanities. It is also supported by WCCʻs Ke Kumu Pali & Hawaiian Studies Discipline.
