Computing Services
Wireless Internet Access / WiFi
Wireless Internet access is free for Windward students and visitors. WiFi coverage includes the interiors of all campus buildings and adjacent outdoor seating areas. The WiFi network name is “WCC Campus WPA2” and can be joined using the password “windward96744”.
User Accounts
Students can create and manage their UH Username at https://www.hawaii.edu/username. Your UH username provides access to a variety of online services administered by the UH Information Technology Services (UH ITS), such as @hawaii.edu email, unlimited Google Drive storage, and registration for classes.
Students can create or change the password for their Windward Computing Account at http://accounts.windward.hawaii.edu. Your Windward Computing Account is needed to use campus computer labs and printers.
Campus Computer Labs
Campus computer labs are free for students to use on a walk-in basis.
Windward’s primary computer lab is located on the main (2nd) floor of the Library and includes Apple iMacs, Windows PCs, scanners, and B&W and color printers. Every computer has Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and web browsers, and certain computers have additional software such as Adobe applications (Acrobat Pro, DreamWeaver, InDesign, Photoshop Extended, Premiere Pro). For further information, visit the Library website or speak with staff at the Library Help Desk.
TRiO Student Support Services (TRiO SSS) also provides Macs and PCs for student use in their Hale Kakoʻo 116 Computer Lab. Visit the TRiO staff there for further details.
Several Macs and PCs are available for self-services student use in the Hale ʻImiloa main hallway and the Hale Pālanakila mauka hallway. These stations are convenient for quick use or printing for class, though they are less capable than the newer computers available in the Library and the TRiO SSS Computer Lab.
Printing Charges
Students are charged for printing done in the Library, in the Imiloa and Palanakila hallways, and in most computer classrooms. The charge for single-sided printing is $0.09/page for Black and White and $0.25/page for Color. The charge for double-sided (duplex) printing is $0.16/page for Black and White and $0.48/page for Color.
The PaperCut print management system only allows you to print when you have sufficient funds in your account to cover the cost. When you initially create your Windward Computing Account, you receive a one-time $1.00 printing credit – enough to print your first several pages. Add money to your printing account and request credit for any faulty printouts at the Library Circulation Desk.
While there is no refund of unspent printing funds, your unspent balance will carry over from semester to semester so long as you are a continuing student at Windward. If you are not registered for the current fall or spring semester, your account will be deleted and any unspent printing funds will be lost.
Microsoft Office 365 Subscription
Currently-enrolled Windward students are eligible for a free Microsoft Office 365 subscription that includes the option to download and install full Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.) on personal Macs and PCs. Find out more about a free student subscription to Microsoft Office 365.
