The Nā Muʻo Program at Windward Community College (WCC) provides higher education to students at Kaiapuni (Hawaiian Immersion) schools and Hawaiian-based Public Charter Schools. The Nā Muʻo Program is federally funded by a five year U.S. Department of Education Title III Grant (2021-2026).

Program Goals

  • Hoʻomomona i ka ʻĀina: Enriching Conditions for Success
    • Development and integration of engaging, enriched online course content across the curriculum focused on NH language and culture, including online course offerings in the Hawaiian language.
  • Kākoʻo Haumāna “Student Support”
    • Development and implementation of holistic support systems for online learning contexts, using Hawaiian language and cultural paradigms.

Nā Muʻo Eligibility

  • Must be a high school student at a Hawaiian Immersion/Medium Program/School.

  • Dedicated Counseling: Every student is paired with an Early College Counselor for help with class registration, college and career planning, and academic support.
  • High School Support: Each class is guided by a dedicated Success Coach—a DOE personnel ready to assist when instructors and counselors are unavailable.
  • Certifications Available: Depending on school agreements, students may have the opportunity to earn a certificate.
