Two COVID-19 Cases Reported on Campus: Jan 13, 2022

Aloha Windward CC community,

Two campus community members have tested positive for COVID-19 and are self-isolating. One was last on campus January 7th, and the other one was on campus January 10th. These cases are not related. Three close contacts were identified and the Hawaii Department of Health has been notified.

Affected areas on campus will be cleaned, as recommended by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and UH COVID-19 guidelines.

No further details can be shared as the privacy of the individuals involved must be respected. The campus is following all privacy and confidentiality laws, including the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) and the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA).

Anyone who tests positive for COVID-19 is not allowed to return to campus until they have completed isolation requirements and symptoms (if any present) have improved, consistent with the standards of DOH and the CDC.

All positive cases and suspected cases of COVID-19 should be reported to the WCC COVID Response Team by completing the WCC COVID-19 Contact Tracing Form at http://go.hawaii.edu/RUV. You may reach the WCC COVID Response Team by email at covidwcc@hawaii.edu or 808-462-4715. The information will be kept confidential. Information on reported positive cases on UH campuses can be found at http://go.hawaii.edu/xy3.

It is imperative that everyone follows campus COVID-19 guidelines, including:

  • using the daily health check-in app LumiSight UH before coming to campus or participating in campus-related activities
  • staying home when you are sick or awaiting test results for COVID -19

It is required that everyone on campus wear a face covering when indoors and not in a room by yourself. Remember to practice safe physical distancing and wash your hands often.

If you are able to get vaccinated and have not yet done so, this may be the perfect time to consider protecting your health and the health of those around you through vaccination. Here is a resource to help with information about the vaccine and how to find a vaccination site near you:
