Positive COVID-19 Case Reported on Campus

Aloha Windward CC community,

A campus community member has tested positive for COVID-19 and is self-
isolating. Ten close contacts have been identified through the contact 
tracing process, which continues, and the Hawaii Department of Health has 
been notified. 

Two areas have been closed, as recommended by the Centers for Disease 
Control and Prevention and UH COVID-19 guidelines. Signs have been placed in 
the impacted areas, and occupants have been notified.

No further details can be shared as the privacy of the individuals involved 
must be respected. The campus is following all privacy and confidentiality 
laws, including the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act 
(HIPAA) and the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA).

Anyone who tests positive for COVID-19 is not allowed to return to campus 
until they are cleared by a medical provider, consistent with the standards 
of DOH and the CDC. No further details can be shared as the privacy of the 
individuals involved must be respected. The campus is following all privacy 
and confidentiality laws, including the Health Insurance Portability and 
Accountability Act (HIPAA) and the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act 
(FERPA).
