If you are a first time student who is attending college for the first time, follow the below steps to get started in registering for classes.
STEP 1. SUBMIT ONLINE SYSTEM APPLICATION
Complete the Online Application
- There is a non-refundable $25 application fee for non-Hawaiʻi residents
- Active military stationed in Hawai‘i, their dependents, or veteran discharged within the past three years and physically in Hawai‘i are exempt from this fee
- To apply for the Military Non-Resident Exemption submit a copy of your Military Orders
- Active military stationed in Hawai‘i, their dependents, or veteran discharged within the past three years and physically in Hawai‘i are exempt from this fee

STEP 2. RECEIVE YOUR DECISION NOTIFICATION
You will be notified via email of your acceptance into the college along with registration information. Your acceptance notification will be sent to your hawaii.edu account if it is still active.
STEP 3. APPLY FOR FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE
Apply for Financial Aid through FAFSA at https://fafsa.ed.gov
- For assistance in financing your college education, contact WCC Financial Aid office at 808-235-7449
- Use the Net Price Calculator to estimate tuition, fees, books, supplies, room & board, and other related expenses
- Check to see if your program is eligible for financial aid

STEP 4. HEALTH CLEARANCE
Before registering for classes Tuberculosis (TB) and Immunization clearances must be submitted to our Admissions & Records Office in Hale Alaka‘i 112 (808-235-7432). You may be accepted to Windward CC without the required health clearances, but you will not be able to register for classes until the clearances are received.
STEP 5. TAKE THE PLACEMENT TEST
Complete placement process for math and English in ONE of the following ways:
- Bring documents for placement evaluation (ex: high school transcript, SAT, ACT, Smarter Balanced Assessment) to your New Student Orientation or to your counselor
- Take the placement test at the Testing Center (808-235-7498) at Hale La’akea (Library), Room 228
STEP 6. GET A UH USERNAME
- Set up your MyUH account at https://hawaii.edu/username/
- MyUH Services allows you to register for classes, check your financial aid status, check grades, make online payments, sign-up for payment plans, and much more!
STEP 7. ATTEND NEW STUDENT ORIENTATION (NSO)
NSO is required of all New-To-College students for the Spring and Fall semesters. NSO enrollment is optional for Summer sessions.
- Call 808-235-7454 to schedule your NSO held at Hale ‘Ākoakoa 232 with a WCC Peer Mentor
- Attend NSO before registering for classes
STEP 8. REGISTER FOR CLASSES WITH YOUR COUNSELOR
An Academic Counselor can assist you by reviewing previous courses taken and determining which courses are needed to complete your program requirements. An Academic Counselor can also advise you on whether or not you’ll need to take a placement exam.
- Check your “View Holds” link on MyUH
- Holds prevent registration and can include Financial Obligation Hold, New Student Orientation Hold, Academic Advising Hold, or other holds. Holds such as Financial Aid Obligation must be cleared (paid) before you can register for classes

STEP 9. PAY FOR CLASSES BY THE DEADLINE (FAFSA, UH PAYMENT PLAN, ETC.)
After you have registered for classes, tuition/fees can be paid online through MyUH Services using a credit/debit card or in person at the Business Office (Hale Alaka‘i 114) using cash, check or debit card.

STEP 10. ATTEND FROSH CAMP
- Contact your counselor to reserve your spot at Frosh Camp
- Meet fellow students and learn how to navigate your college journey with tools for success
STEP 11. PURCHASE YOUR BOOKS AND SUPPLIES
Take a copy of your class schedule to the Windward Community College Bookstore (Hale ‘Ākoakoa 160) to purchase your textbooks. For bookstore hours, call 808-845-9105.
