Joseph Stanton has published nine books of poems. His tenth collection is forthcoming later this year. On February 12th, he will be reading primarily from his books Moving Pictures  and Things Seen. He will be sharing poems from two of his sequences: “Tales Mostly Grimm” (poems inspired by fairy tales) and “Screens in the Dark” (poems inspired by movies).

Biography: Joseph Stanton has been writing and teaching in Hawai‘i since the 1970s. He has published nine books of poetry including Kaaterskill Clove, Moving PicturesThings Seen, and A Field Guide to the Wildlife of Suburban O‘ahu. His tenth book of poems, Stilled Lives, is forthcoming in 2026. His award-winning poems have appeared in such journals as PoetryHarvard ReviewNew Letters, and Bamboo Ridge. He has published more than 700 poems in journals and anthologies. He is Professor Emeritus of Art History and American Studies at the University of Hawai‘i at Mānoa, and continues to teach poetry workshops in various places.
