A campus community member who was last on campus on January 19th, has tested positive for COVID-19 and is self-isolating. No close contacts were identified and the Hawaii Department of Health has been notified.
Affected areas on campus have been cleaned, as recommended by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and UH COVID-19 guidelines.
No further details can be shared as the privacy of the individuals involved must be respected. The campus is following all privacy and confidentiality laws, including the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) and the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA).
Anyone who tests positive for COVID-19 is not allowed to return to campus until they have completed isolation requirements and symptoms (if any present) have improved, consistent with the standards of DOH and the CDC.
