THEA 177: Introduction to Theatre of Hawaii (3 credits)

Course Description

An exploration of theatrical performances and plays showcasing the people, places and history of Hawaii. (lecture)

Pre-Requisite(s): None.

Co-Requisite(s): None.

Recommended Preparation: THEA 101.


Student Learning Outcomes

Upon completion of the course, the student will be able to:

  • Describe the historical, religious and cultural content of theatre in Hawaii
  • Analyze the dramatic and cultural content of local, original Hawaiian plays using artifacts from original performance
  • Communicate the themes and body of work of a major local or Hawaiian playwright, director or theatrical company
