“Side by Side by Sondheim” is a revelatory musical. This jewel is one of the season’s true surprises.
The cast is extraordinary and exact. Each trouper brings something wonderful to the party.
Jade Stice, Kim Anderson, Shari Lynn and Kip Wilborn are first-rate actors as well as vocalists.
Each performer radiates a luminous glow you’ll savor over the next few days. Yes, it’s that good.
So much fun, so much artistry, so much solid showmanship.
Go. See. Enjoy. Applaud. If you love theater, you'll adore this one!
Memorable songs are from notable shows such as West Side Story, Gypsy, A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum, A Little Night Music, Follies and Company. From “Send in the Clowns” to “Being Alive” to “I’m Still Here,” audiences will be swept into the familiar clever music of America’s finest lyricist.
Side by Side by Sondheim features an all-star cast of 5 well-known performers, who have each won Po’okela awards for their roles in major shows. The cast consists of: Kip Wilborn, who portrayed Valjean in Paliku Theatre’s hit production of Les Miserables; Kim Anderson, who was Cosette in the same Po’okela award-sweeping production; multi-award winning actress and renowned Honolulu chanteuse, Shari Lynn; and Jade Stice, who went straight from Ron Bright’s drama class at Castle High School to the opening Broadway cast of Miss Saigon. The continuity for this revue, written by Ned Sherrin, who created the pioneering TV comedy news show “That Was the Week That Was,” will be narrated by the manager of Paliku Theatre, Tom Holowach.
