THEA 221: Acting I (3 credits)

Course Description

Performance course concentrating on voice, relaxation, body awareness, and freedom from self-consciousness through theatre games, improvisation, and exercises. Emphasis on ensemble work. Students must see two plays and write about them or use the Service-Learning option. Repeatable three times for credit. (3 hours lecture)


Student Learning Outcomes

Upon completion of the course, the student will be able to:

  • Articulate and project the voice well.
  • Devise and execute pantomimes and improvisations.
  • Explore dramatic one- and two-person scenes.
  • Identify, analyze and critically evaluate the technique and believability of dramatic performances.
