These instructions are for all computers with Microsoft Windows XP. The instructions may or may not work with third-party wireless cards. If you have a third-party wireless card, please see the manufacturer's configuration guide.
If you have a wireless management utility, please refer to your user guide for instructions, or disable it and follow these instructions.
Make sure your wireless card is enabled before attempting to connect to the wireless network. Please refer to your laptop's user guide for information on enabling your wireless card.
To configure your Windows XP computer for use with the "WCC Campus" wireless network:
Step 1. Double click the Wireless Network Connection icon in the system tray:
Step 2. A window will appear with a list of available wireless networks. You should see "WCC Campus" in this list. If you do not, you may need to enable your wireless card or you may be out of range of the network. Select "WCC Campus" and click "Connect":
Step 3. A dialog box will appear asking for a Network key. Enter "96744" (without the quotation marks) for both the "Network key" and the "Confirm network key" fields, and then click "Connect":
Note: If you are unable to connect after entering 96744, try "3936373434" as the network key
Before connecting your Windows XP computer to the wireless network, please make sure your operating system and anti-virus software are current.
If you don't have anti-virus software installed, and you are a faculty or staff member, or a student in the University of Hawaii (UH) system, you may download and install McAfee's anti-virus solution from UH. Further information can be found at http://188.8.131.52/antivirus/.
