Our Writing Retreat is not exactly a class but is an opportunity to meet and write in company with other beginning and experienced writers. Here we tap into our mutual creative energy. After introductions, we collect ideas in response to a starter prompt, then each person begins to draft a story, poem, memoir, argument or whatever. In small groups we read these diverse drafts and give each other non-critical reader responses using response techniques like those advocated by Peter Elbow.
Anyone over 16 is welcome to attend. Bring writing materials, a sack lunch, and perhaps a mug for coffee or tea. A food contribution for the morning snack table is welcome, but it is not necessary.
Contact the Office of Continuing Education at 235-7433 for more information or to register.
