Gallery ‘Iolani presents an exhibit that features artists honoring the late poet Wayne Kaumualii Westlake (1947-1984) and launches a compilation CD, Down on the Sidewalk in Waikiki.

This Westlake Art Invitational exhibit is inspired by “Down on the Sidewalk in Waikiki” from Westlake Poems by Wayne Kaumualii Westlake (1947-1984), published by the University of Hawai?i Press and by the CD Down on the Sidewalk in Waikiki

Sixteen visual artists in the exhibit are: Jan Becket, Drew Broderick, April A.H. Drexel, Mark Hamasaki, Kupaa Hee, Imaikalani Kalahele, Kapulani Landgraf, Colin Lee, Michael D. Marshall, Carl F.K. Pao, John Pule, Tagi Qolouvaki, Shinichi Takahashi, Cory Taum, Maika?i Tubbs, with a guest retrospective piece by Keiko Hatano honoring Westlake’s life and athleticism, “24.” Also featured: an original Westlake concrete poetry triptych.
