Our Kuleana
We are here to provide professional, affordable and captivating arts experiences for our community audiences and performers alike. We will train students of the arts with the finest faculty, teaching in the most professional facilities. We want to become the heart of the arts community on the Windward side, and bring audiences from all over O'ahu to discover the opportunities which now abound at Windward Community College, because of the new, modern facilities available to us, such as Paliku Theatre.
Our Challenge
Like many municipal institutions in these times, we have been generously provided with an inspiring facility, Paliku Theatre, yet there have been no corresponding appropriations for operating expenses or production costs. Therefore, we must seek philanthropic assistance. Fortunately, we need not worry about capital construction costs. We do, however, need underwriting of our production expenditures.
Like a startup company without startup capital, Paliku Theatre needs seed money to pay for the significant upfront expenses of staging our own professional productions. In the meantime, we can continue as a desirable venue for hire, collecting user fees from outside producers. However, this will not come close to covering the minimum overhead costs of maintaining theatre operations.
Kokua Paliku
We have created a group of arts supporters, whose donations of time and money enable us to create our outstanding performing arts productions. Kokua Paliku is an exclusive group of generous individuals and organizations, who will be commemorated on our Donor Wall in the Main Lobby.
