Phi Theta Kappa - Responsibilities of PTK Executive Positions

 

Executive positions are a great way to gain experience with organizing and helping with academic and community events. Members of the executive are expected to attend meetings and also to help organize and participate in at least two events per semester.


President

The President shall call and preside at meetings of General and Executive meetings and any business meeting of the members of the Association and shall lead, coordinate and facilitate such steps as deemed necessary or advisable to achieve the purposes of the Association.

Vice-President of Scholarship

The Vice President of Scholarship shall promote academic excellence at Windward Community College, shall organize events pertaining to the Honors Study Topic and shall be responsible for filing the appropriate forms for the Scholarship Hallmark.

Vice-President of Service

The Vice President of Service shall promote the development of service at Windward Community College, shall organize events in conjunction with the International Service Project, shall be in charge of all community service projects, and shall be responsible for filing the appropriate forms for the Service Hallmark.

Vice-President of Leadership

The Vice President of Leadership shall promote the development of leadership at Windward Community College, shall be in charge of all events pertaining to the development of leadership, including leadership seminars, field trips, and conferences, and shall be responsible for filing the appropriate forms for the Leadership Hallmark.

Vice-President of Fellowship

The Vice President of Fellowship shall promote fellowship between Phi Theta Kappa members, other students, staff, and faculty of Windward Community College, other regional chapters, and community members.

Treasurer

In conjunction with the faculty advisor, the Treasurer shall collect all dues and donations; shall make authorized payments and sign all checks issued by the Association; shall maintain complete records of receipts and expenditures for general and all special funds; shall present or provide current financial reports at appropriate Alpha Lambda Theta meetings and as otherwise required.

Recording Secretary

The Recording Secretary shall be responsible for sending all notices of the Alpha Lambda Theta meetings and shall record and distribute to the Executive and members the minutes of all appropriate meetings.

Corresponding Secretary

The Corresponding Secretary shall prepare and maintain copies and files of all Alpha Lambda Theta correspondence and communications; shall be responsible for sending all notices of meetings of Alpha Lambda Theta and all communications on behalf of the Executive; shall maintain a calendar of all Association activities; shall acknowledge all gift receipts; and shall prepare an annual report to the Phi Beta Kappa Society.

Membership Coordinator

Membership Coordinator shall be responsible for receiving and recording all new and renewal membership applications, payment of dues, and contributions; will correspond with members and prospective members to resolve questions regarding membership status; and will work with the Treasurer to insure that membership lists and dues are accurate.

External Representative

The External Representative shall represent Alpha Lamda Theta at all regional meetings and report any relevant information back to the executive and membership.
