The Fight

My body, a volcano about to spew lava

Red hot with anger, it bubbles higher and higher

I shoot arrows of words that cut my used-to-be friend’s soul

Walking in the other direction, my back glares back at her

After a few minutes, the lava cools and hardens

And a sea of guilt washes over it

Without her, the puzzle of my life is missing a piece

I sprint back to where she is still standing

Her heart damaged by my hateful actions

The words I know I have to say burn in my mouth

“I’m sorry”

That moment, it was like we were in our own world

The sun shining after a terrible storm

I look at her eyes

And I know I have made peace
