You and I were quite
the team
Back when we made the
most of
Our lucky number 7.
With oversized denim
overalls
And dirt-crusted
sneakers,
We trailed into the
girl’s bathroom after recess
Instead of that
boring classroom with the
Tall lady who talked
too much with
Big words we couldn’t
understand.
There were 4 stalls
and it was
My turn to make spiderwebs and
Your turn to keep
watch.
Hurrying inside my
first stall,
I quickly unraveled
all the toilet paper and began
Stretching and
pulling and wrapping and
Creating the biggest
and the best spiderweb of all time which
Linked and hooked and
stretched across every open space
Until I crawled
through the space under the door that let
You know I was done.
Then the skinny girl from
our class
Came in to use the
bathroom
And our lucky number
7s didn’t feel so lucky.
