Many courses offer a service-learning option. It is an alternative to another assignment, another way to practice and demonstrate learning in your course. You will volunteer a minimum of 20 hours at a community site or organization. Your volunteer activity, or your organization, must relate to the course. Your teacher will tell you how you will show your learning (e.g., through a reflective journal, class presentation, report). Service-learners who complete their projects successfully will receive certificates recognizing their community contributions.
