Landscape by Toni MartinAntoinette Martin is an art Professor at Windward Community College where she is also the director of Gallery ‘Iolani. She teaches 2-D design, color theory, gallery design and management, and beginning drawing and painting. Martin was awarded the University of Hawai’i Excellence in teaching Award, and a Service-Learning Award from the University of Hawai’i for her community art programs.  Martin’s work is regularly accepted in juried exhibitions and she has received awards from the Pastel Society of America in New York, as well as several awards in Hawai‘i for her pastels. Her work is in local, national and international collections including the Hawai‘i State Foundation on Culture and the Arts, and she has received commissions from Saint Francis Hospital and Hawaiian Airlines in Hawai‘i.

Gallery Iolani

Martin was hired to create a gallery for Windward Community College in 1990. Since then, she has created over one hundred twenty exhibits combining artist workshops and lectures during many of them. Martin has written and received twelve grants from State Foundation on Culture and the Arts for selected exhibits.

It is the mission of Gallery Iolani to promote exhibitions of cultural and educational significance in Hawaii, showing the rich heritage of our artists in this state.

  • Founder of Kumu Kokua for the Arts. A Volunteer program with college art students assisting DOE classroom teachers in Kane’ohe Elementary School, 1995- present.
  • Founder of Volunteer Weekly Art Program at Kane'ohe State Hospital. 1986- present.
