First DC meeting of the AY

Set aside a couple of hours for this first meeting of the AY

August – late

Assigned Time Completion Reports from Spring are due to Vice Chancellor’s secretary

DCs must review and sign the Assigned Time Completion Reports

September – early

Spring schedule information disseminated to the DCs

Provide the Vice Chancellor with a list of the disciplines for which you need to advertise for lecturers

September – late

Spring and Summer schedules due to the Dean’s Office. 

Spring 15/12 Workload Reduction forms due to DCs, file in Dean’s Office. 

The workload reduction forms must be initiated by the faculty and approved by the DC.  As a courtesy, the Dean’s Office maintains a file of these requests.

October – early

Ads for Spring semester lecturers due

Spring book order forms due to Deans’ secretaries

 

October – mid/late

Individual discussions with DCs regarding Spring and Summer schedules

 

November

List of Spring credit classes in which noncredit seats may be offered

The list will be distributed to DCs – a deadline will be established to obtain faculty approval to allow noncredit students in the classes.

November 30

Contract renewal reviews due

 

December – 1st through 3rd weeks

Tenure and Promotion dossiers are reviewed, then returned to the Chancellor’s office

 

December 31

Find lecturers to fill all “STAFF” sections in the Spring and Summer schedules

 

January 16

DOI to rollover Fall/Spring/Summer schedule from previous year to the DCs

DCs to discuss SOC w/ their faculty and decide on Schedule requests for the department

January – late

Assigned Time Completion Reports from Fall are due

DCs must review and sign these reports.

February 2

DCs to submit 2009/2010 SOC to DOI office w/ changes, additions, deletions, etc.

All requests such as room preference and other specific needs need to be noted on the SOC that is submitted to the DOI

February – early

Ads for Fall semester lecturers due

Summer book order forms due to Deans’ secretaries

February 11

DOI office to send SOC to DCs in an excel spreadsheet

Spreadsheet will show DCs information incorporated into the schedule. Spreadsheet will allow DCs to sort by several variables such as days, time, building, room, etc.

February 11 through March 1

DCs to discuss SOC with departments

VC, Deans and DCs to meet about the SOC

DCs and departments to look for conflicts and identify any concerns.

VC, Deans and DCs to discuss the best possible SOC for WCC.

February – mid
