Certified Nurse's Aide (CNA) Program
Windward Community College's CNA program has provided me with the skills and knowledge to successfully pass The State of Hawaii Nurse Aide Examination. Becoming a Registered Nurse has always been my ultimate career goal. I entered this program in June of 2012 as a stepping stone toward an Associate's Degree in Nursing. During these eight weeks, I established many great friendships with common interests. The support sysyem within the program has taught me to go over and beyond in regards to caring for kupuna. After completion of the program, I have gained the confidence to instead transition to a Bachelor's of Science in Nursing.
" Becoming a nurse has always been a dream for me. Being part of this Native Hawaiian Health pathway program has given me the tools to help make my dream become a reality."
" This program means a lot to me because it has expanded my knowledge and experience in the nursing field. I feel that I have gained valuable real life experiences in actual working conditions and situations. Without this program, I would not have gained the confidence and knowledge necessary to succeed in the nursing profession."
"As a part of this Native Hawaiian Pathway, I am able to apply my knowldege and skills that I have learned to help serve our community as a volunteer. Being in the nursing proffession, thankfully is helping me to reach my goal. Now that I am a graduate of this CNA program and working as a CNA, this is the baseline towards becomming a Registered Nurse."
