Ann Pearl Nursing Facility
Clinical Overview
Before you begin
It is your responsibility to know where Ann Pearl is located before the first day of clinical. It is not acceptable to be late the first day of clinical because you could not find the facility.
Attire:
- Dress in uniform scrubs
- White shoes
- Hair pulled back neatly out of your face and off of your shoulders
- No jewelry
- Refrain from perfumes and colognes
- Do not forget your gait belt
Schedule:
Beginning of day:
- Arrive at clinical at 5:45 am
- E hoi mai
- Sign up for lunch (if purchased)
- Wash hands
- Receive assignment by 6:00 am
Breaks/Lunch:
- Your breaks and lunch time will be taken at the same time as the CNA to which you are assigned.
End of day:
- Report to meeting area at 1:00 pm
- Group discussion
- Review checklist
- Ho’onani
Parking:
Do NOT park in the Ann Pearl facility parking lot. You need to park at the church next door to Ann Pearl. Do not park in the front of the church, but park on the backside near Ben Parker Elementary School field.
Personal Items:
Small lockers are provided. You must bring your own lock and remove items daily at the end of your shift.
Lunch:
You may purchase a lunch from Ann Pearl for $1.50/day (includes a drink). It is recommended that you purchase lunches for the full week instead of by day. Two weeks before the start of clinical, you will have the opportunity to see the menu and sign up for lunches and you will be required to pay for lunches at that time.
Menus and lunch specials will be posted at Ann Pearl each morning and tuna and Egg salad sandwiches are available every day. Make your lunch selection on the designated clip board before the beginning of your day, and no later than 9:00 am.
Absences:
If you are unable to attend any day of clinical, it is mandatory that you contact Jamie Boyd by cellphone at 294-9394 immediately.
Absences for any reason from your clinical experience will result in an incomplete for this session. Students who fail to complete all clinical hours will be allowed to apply for consideration to make-up hours in future clinical sessions. Approval to make-up clinical hours is not common and is subject to space availability and approval. Students who do not complete all clinical hours will not be allowed to graduate during the session that he/she is enrolled in and will not receive a certificate of completion for the course.
